Ladakh Mountain Biking

After more than six yers of organising trekking, climbing, wildlife and other adventure holidays to the remotest corners of the Indian Himalayas, our move to include mountain biking holidays was an obvious step. In 1992, we did the first ever commercial montain bike ride on the famous Leh-Manali road crossing two of the world's highest road passes. This programme has now grown to include biking in the remote valleys of Lahaul, Ladakh, Kulu, Sikkim and the eastern Himalayas.

The fully supported Leh-Manali bike ride is now an established classic, crossing three high passes, the highest being over 5600 mtrs, and with a total descent of over 10000 mtre.

These are not demanding expeditions- our spport team is always present at a discreet distance behind the riders to help in case of need. All bags are carried for you and our expert camp crew sports out the campsites and puts together five star meals at the end of the day.

Day to Day Itinerary (17 days):-

Day 1. Arrive Delhi late evening. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 2. Return to Domestic Terminal of airport for flight to Leh. Day at leisure. Hotel.

Day 3. Drive across to Stok Village and bike back towards the Indus River. Optional stiff climb back into Leh. Hotel.

Day 4. Rafting on the Indus in the morning. Free afternoon. Hotel.

Day 5. Sightseeing at the Buddhist monasteries of Hemis and Tak Tak. We bike there on the old road along the Indus. Support vehicle back to Leh. Hotel.

Day 6. Drive westwards to Chilling and ride the wild jeep road above the Zanskar River, then all the way back to Leh. Hotel.

Day 7. Drive to the checkpost at 4500 metres, below the Khardung La (5380m). Bike to the top or take the support vehicle. Mega descent back to Leh. Hotel.

Day 8. Drive to Upshi and set off biking towards Manali. Bike to Rumpsti (4370m), half way to the Taglang La.

Day 9. Bike up to the Taglang La (5280m) then down across the Moray Plains to the settlement of Pang (4400m).

Day 10. Up again, to the Lachalung La (5065m) and then the Nakli La (4900m). Down via the 22 hairpin bends of the ‘Gata Loops,’ to Sarchu (4400m).

Day 11. Bike up to the Baralacha Pass (4880m), then a long descent to Jespa (3400m).

Day 12. We continue through Keylong and Tandi to Khoksar (3150m), at the base of the Rohtang Pass.

Day 13. Make the last climb, across the Rohtang Pass (3990m) and descend 2000 metres to Manali. Hotel.

Day 14. A well earned rest day in Manali. Hotel.

Day 15. Drive to the Nalagarh Fort Resort, located at the base of the Shivalik Hills. Hotel.

Day 16. Drive to Chandigarh and take the train to Delhi. Hotel.

Day 17. Sightseeing Delhi. Evening transfer to airport.
